#890          Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory

Mine eyes have seen the glory
of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage
where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He has loosed the fateful lightning of
his terrible swift sword:
His truth is marching on.

Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah! His truth is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet
that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men
before his judgment seat.
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer him;
be jubilant, my feet!
Our God is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies
Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in his bosom
that transfigures you and me.
As he died to make men holy, let us live to make men free,
While God is marching on.

#26                Have Thine Own Way

  1. Have thine own way, Lord, have thine own way!
    Thou art the Potter; I am the clay.
    Mould me and make me After thy will,
    While I am waiting, Yielded and still
  • Have thine own way, Lord, have thine own way!
    Search me and try me, Master, today!
    Whiter than snow, Lord, Wash me just now,
    As in thy presence Humbly I bow.
  • Have thine own way, Lord, have thine own way!
    Wounded and weary, Help me, I pray!
    Power, all power, Surely is thine!
    Touch me and heal me, Savior divine!
  • Have thine own way, Lord, have thine own way!
    Hold o’er my being, Absolute sway!
    Fill with thy Spirit, Till all shall see
    Christ only always, Loving in me!

My Country, ‘Tis of Thee

LBW #566

  1. My country, ‘tis of thee,
    Sweet land of liberty, Of thee I sing:
    Land where my fathers died,
    Land of the pilgrims’ pride,
    From every mountainside
    Let freedom ring.

     2.  My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free, Thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills
Like that above.

      3.  Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees Sweet freedom’s song;
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.

      4.  Our fathers’ God, to thee,
Author of liberty, To thee we sing:
Long may our land be bright
With freedom’s holy light.
Protect us by thy might,
Great God, our king.

The Star Spangled Banner
Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand

Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
