Prayer for Resurrection and New Birth

Eternal God, we thank you for the joy and hope of that first Easter morning, when breaking the bonds of death our Lord Jesus was resurrected from the darkness of the tomb. We ask that as we see renewal and rebirth during this Spring season, that you would break the bonds of any fear, sin, darkness, or death that separates us from you and raise us to walk in newness of life until you bring us into our heavenly home. Christ has risen indeed. Alleluia! Amen!

Good Friday Worship

7 PM April 14, 2017

It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, while the sun’s light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” Having said this, he breathed his last. Luke 23:44-46

Jesus has been faithful unto death. What more is there to say? And yet, in the midst of his final breaths, our Lord manages to forgive.

The whole of creation grieved when Jesus died.

Read the following daily readings to deepen your understanding of Sunday’s text and after the readings ask the question, How emotional is Jesus’ journey to the cross to you?

Friday: Crucifixion (Good Friday), Luke 23:32-47

Saturday: Burial of Jesus, Luke 23:48-56
