Last week I posted a request for help that the church received. Pastor talked about it during church. Here are the results.
Hola ,Greetings in Christ from beautiful La Antigua, Guatemala!Just a quick note: We’ve got some great news to share…
I’m thrilled to report: With your help, we were able to raise funds for 119 of 129 stoves, Praise Be to God!
Our stove campaign which ended yesterday, raised over 119 stoves for our mission teams to install in the homes of children living in extreme poverty this summer, Praise Be to God!
Damaris and I are truly humbled by the outpouring of love from our mission community, friends, family members, and perfect strangers who donated to this campaign over the past 3 weeks.
We are sending the deposit to the stove manufacturer today, so we will have time to install these 119 stoves during weeks 2, 3, and 4 this summer.
But wait, there’s more…
Because of the extra-ordinary fundraising efforts by Mike Bevilacqua, and our mission Corporate sponsor, Mammoth Restoration, raising over $10,000 in extra funds, we have paid down the extra expense of our mission flights this year, and we will now have more project funds for ALL of our projects, for all 4 of our weeks of our mission!
Thanks again to Mike, his beautiful family, and all of the friends, family, and clients of Mammoth Restoration for this incredibly generous gift.
In Case You Missed It…
Here’s a quick summary of our stove project this summer:
Shawn Smith has been to our congregation before to share his message along with his music. He is looking for last minute help. Please read the following message and consider what you can do to help.
Greetings in Christ from beautiful La Antigua, Guatemala!
Damaris and I are finally here, prepping for our 10th annual mission this summer. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers of support!
This summer promises to be a true blessing for the hundreds we are serving, and the dozens of Crew Members coming to serve. Speaking of blessings…
The number one thing we hear from our mission Crew Members at the end of their week of service here in Guatemala is:
“We got way more out of this, than what we gave. We are more blessed from this mission trip, than those we came to share a blessing with.” -Mission Volunteer
…or something like that. It’s true…we all have been blessed to be a blessing in this work.
A couple of weeks ago, I asked you to share a 5 min. short film with your friends and family, that was made by our dear friend, Jesse LaPierre: https://youtu.be/FjBC7Jbtudo
This video was made to kick off our 3 week fundraising campaign to raise 129 stoves, at $129/stove by 1:29am on Mon, June 8th (next Monday!)
The Good News …
Many of you shared the video on Facebook and Twitter, and some of you donated a stove. On behalf of Damaris and myself, “Muchas Gracias!”
I’m happy to announce that we have received donations for 21 stoves so far, Praise be to God!
The Bad News…
However, this is far from our goal, and we only have 1 week left in order to purchase these stoves in time to install them this summer!
Due to extremely high flight-costs for our dozens of missionaries this year, we have never had more of a financial need, than this year.
Over the past 7 yrs, the most our flights have cost is $730/person. Last year they cost $700/person. However, this year, they cost us $915/person.
Even though we raised our registration fee $100/person more before registration begain, this is still $115/person more than we could have ever anticipated. This has blown a hole in our budget.
If we do not secure more donations before next Monday, for the first time in 10 years, we are going to need to cancel mission projects, and tell families who have been planning to receive stoves, that we simply don’t have the funds.
We desperately don’t want to do that. But we need help.
So, I’m going to ask you to do something that I’ve never asked our former mission team members, and mission supporters to do before.
I’m going to ask you to dig deep down, and to find a way to pay it forward. I’m asking you to prayerfully consider donating a stove, this week – before Mon, June 8th.
Over the past 10 years, my wife Damaris and I have been extremely blessed to lead this mission.
We have been blessed with a flexible career, and enough personal funds to take 3 months off per year, to raise our own financial support, and to serve as your volunteer mission Directors.
We have been blessed by over 1,200 missionaries and their supporters making it possible for them to come help us serve children and their families living in extreme poverty.
We have been blessed by the many village leaders, and dozens of Guatemalan volunteers who have hosted us, and partnered with us on these projects.
We have been blessed to see thousands of children and their families lives changed in powerful ways…
with temporary gifts of…
High-efficiency stoves in their kitchens
Concrete floors in their bedrooms
Shoes on their feet
Anti-parasite medicine in their stomachs
Prescription medicine in their sick bodies
Eye-glasses over their eyes
Pencils and school supplies in their hands
School uniforms on their backs
and with the eternal gifts of…
Education through the sponsorship programs we helped launch
The feeling that God has not forgotten them
Friendship and love from new Brothers and Sisters in Christ
Stories and songs of Jesus and His love from our VBS programs
The love and hope of Jesus in their hearts
If you have been blessed by this mission over the past 10 years, like we have, I’d like to ask you to pay that blessing forward.
I’d like you to pay it forward so that another child, and another mission volunteer, and another mission supporter, may have the same blessing that you received through this mission work.
This one stove:
Provides clean air for a child and their family of 4-10 people
Eliminates the need for open-fire cooking indoors during the rainy season
Evacuates nearly all the smoke from the house via a chimney
Burns 70% less wood than an open fire
Saves the woman of the house 2 days/wk they don’t need to collect wood
Is insulated to prevent burns
Provides radiant heat on those cold mornings
Will serve a family for 5-15 years
Will bless you, knowing you were a blessing to this family
When is the last time you were able to make this big of a difference in the lives of 4-10 people, for years to come, for only $129?
Please prayerfully considering helping us this summer, and paying forward the blessings you have received, by blessing others with a donation of a stove.
Thank you for your love and support of our mission these past 10 years, and thanks for your consideration in helping us with this fundraising campaign.
